Gridlock is Top Reason Americans are Critical of Congress
In this article, we can see the results of a public opinion poll about approval and disapproval of congress. It is clear from the statistics that the majority of the Americans sampled (78%) disapprove of congress. There are multiple reasons cited for this, such as poor ethics and poor performance on specific issues, but the most popular reason is gridlock (59%) - the inability for congress to get anything done due to the stubbornness and lack of willingness to compromise between republicans and democrats. The Americans who said that they approve of congress mostly commend congress for their efforts (28%). Among them are Americans who still are critical of gridlock, however they feel that their chosen party is trying hard to stand up to the oppositional party.
